Partially furnished and in need of accessories and some personality, this project gave Seersucker Cottage the opportunity to bring a coastal modern vibe to reflect the Southern California lifestyle. Often requested as our “Gidget” style, this one bedroom apartment listing had some basic furnishings, but wasn’t getting stand out listing appeal from the over 1300 listings in the market. The property owner target market is millennial couples, where the booking inquiry is often the female. Playing to the crisp, neutral and greenery style of Scandinavian design, we used texture for depth to be reflected in photographed. Much of the design focused on flow of the space to highlight the natural light and simple modern lines. An outdoor space was under development, and while a phase 2 portion of the project, the interior needed to bring the joy of California outdoors to the guest. Using whimsical styling and carefree decor, the heart of this self styled partial design was accent furniture and accessories. Custom art of music lyrics was created and layering of linens and bedding created a bungalow feel. A photo shot list was provided the property manager, along with angles to capture and a style guide for consulting a professional photographer.
Partial designed clients are coached to look for lifestyle or blogger photography vs. interior or real estate photography. The capture of a moment or experience is the influence to this target market guest and photos should reflect that look.
The result is a minimalist bohemian interior in Santa Monica, CA worthy of instagram.
